Plan of Attack
Plan of Attack
Plan of Attack is a card game where you draw one card and how you play that one card determines your chances of winning.
This game was built for the 2019 GMTK Game Jame and focuses on the them of "Only One". It plays similarly to rock, paper, scissors combined with trading card games.
How to play
At the beginning of each round, you will be given a card. There is a number on the lower right corner of the card that indicates the amount of damage this card can deal out. However, unlike other card games, having the higher number will not guarantee you a winning round.
Card Modes
Bellow the card, there are three buttons.
Each button represents a mode this card can be placed in. To select a mode for the card, simply click the button.
Each mode is able to defeat exactly one other mode. Defense mode will always defeat attack mode. Attack mode will always beat support mode. Support mode will always defeat defense mode.
Damage
Once you and your opponent have made your mode selection, the cards and mode choices will be revealed and the winner will be determined. The amount of damage listed on the winner's card will be dealt to the loser. You start with 20 hit points and the game is over once someone hits zero.
Special Effects
Some cards have special effects listed on them. These effects are triggered only once certain conditions are met.
Using the card above as an example, Artillery has a special effect that triggers when you lose with this card played in support mode (On support mode lose). There are a handful of cards with special effects, so be sure to watch out for them!

This kinda feel like a worse rock paper scissor. I think you could have a good game there but you'd need to be able to build your own deck so that both players don't have the same pool of card and there is a reason to think about what mode you're selecting.
Currently you have no information on what your opponent will do so the mode selection is purely random except when you get an effect with a mode in which case you have no reason not to select it because your opponent can't know you've drawn that card.
